Larry Galloway pleaded guilty Monday morning in Kane County Court to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Under 1981 guidelines, he will be required to serve at five years, minus the 22 days he’s already spent in jail in the case.
Galloway had no visible reaction and made no statement.
He could have been sentenced to as much as 40 years in prison if the case had gone to trial.
“I think both sides were concerned with 1981 evidence and 21st century evidence analysis,” defense attorney David Camic said.
Camic said the prosecution’s offer was so good a defendant “would have accepted it even if he didn’t commit the crime.” Camic said he was not suggesting Galloway did not kill Hall.
